The Valley of Achor

Here's the text of a song I wrote about a year and a half ago.  It's meant to be from the Lord's perspective, and primarily unpacks the idea of Him turning the Valley of Achor (trouble) into a door of hope.  Sometimes His greatest blessings are revealed when the lesser blessings are stripped away.

Verse 1
You're asking why storms come
Just when you thanked Me for the calm
Gifts good and perfect
Gone even as you sang a grateful song
Can you believe, child
Under My yoke to learn My rest
Stripped of your blessings
That you may know what it is to be blessed

Chorus
I want to bless you in greater ways than you've ever known before
Carried closer to My heart in Heaven's healing storm
How will you know My all-surpassing peace
Unless I bless you in greater ways than these?

Verse 2
Child, I have loved you
Enough to lead you to this place
Where good things are fading
Revealing the best of all My grace
All things made new again
All things made lovely in My time
The Valley of trouble
Opens a door of hope before your eyes

Chorus
I want to bless you in greater ways than you've ever known before
Carried closer to My heart in Heaven's healing storm
How will you know My all-surpassing peace
Unless I bless you in greater ways than these?

Bridge
Come, bring me your bitterness
I'm not afraid of your anger and confusion
Come, wrestle with providence
And refuse to let Me go...

...Until I bless you in greater ways than you've ever known before
Carried closer to My heart in Heaven's healing storm
How will you know My all-surpassing peace
Unless I bless you in greater ways than these?
