Happy

I'm glad we didn't take pictures.  There was another couple I watched who spent the afternoon taking pictures.  I'm glad we spent the afternoon together.

I'm glad we stopped for ice cream, and I'm glad we walked slowly across the bridge.  I'm glad you let me stand and look up at the top of the buildings and feel dizzy.  The Lord gave us enough sun to make us want to stick our feet in the fountain, and I'm glad we stayed until the wind shifted and we got sprayed a little bit.  I'm glad we found that little lopsided building--the oldest remaining part of the fort.  It was nice to just stop and look and feel the weight of its age, trying to imagine the city without its cars and pineapple pavilions and glass towers and coffee shops.  Back when it was mainly just big-dreamed people.  I would have liked you back then too.

I'm glad we laughed at the radio on the way back, and as the warmth and heaviness of home settled back over us, there was enough sleepiness to make it a happy thing.  I'm glad we spent the day together.
