Refuge

A Refuge for the times
When I'm crippled by my fears
Of the clouded road ahead,
The unknown coming years;
But I place all my hope
In the certainty that He
Has crafted out of love
Each step toward eternity
Who is my Refuge.

A Refuge for the days
When my best is not enough;
Demands follow my generosity,
And abuse returns my love;
But He carried my sorrows
And no trial does He give
But makes me know Him in His sufferings,
That in dying I may live
In Him who is my Refuge.

A Refuge when my past
Looms large and heavy within,
The rumor seizes my heart
That I can't escape my sin.
But to know that all those days
Where nailed to the rugged tree,
And emerged a new creation,
Forgiven, justly free
Under the Blood that is my Refuge

Without You I am weak,
I'm unable to stand.
My only hope and strength
Is that You would take my hand
And lead me on to glory,
Overcoming, standing firm,
Till this tear-stained world fades behind me
In the Home for which I've yearned,
With Him who has been my Refuge.
